The Matron's report was as follows : — Probationer-Nurse Ferguson has now been off duty for thTec months on full pay, as she is. unlikely to be able to resume her duties for some time ye.*, I should be glad to know the Board's wishes on this matter. The sale of tobacco to the old age pensioners is not a success, the men forget they have had the tobacco and. resent having the money deducted from their allowance. I would suggest that a small quantity of tobacco be allowed so that I can give some of these men who draw no pensions. I understand it is the custom to give every pati'enjun the Old Building a small gift at Christmas time, and that in the past the Board has granted a small sum of money to bo spent for this purpose. Am I to continue this practice this year? As Sister Cornwall is tendering Ker resignation on December 31st, it will be necessary to advertise for another applicant: the Sisters salaries are at present below the rate recommended by the Dominion conference. The report was adopted. It was resolved that an allowance of tobacco be given those who draw no pension. It was also resolved that, a small gife be given, to the' inmates in the old -buildin <r. • On the motion of Mr Williams seconded by Mr Skoglund it was resolV-' cd that the Sisters' salaries be raised to the rate recommended by the Dominion Conference.
