(Our Own COl respondent.) At a meeting of tiic St. John Ambulance and Ladies Nursing Division, here, Superintendant T. AY. Thompson presiding, Miss E. Hccnan's resignation as Secretary was received owing to her departure from the district. Tho chairman moved that the secretary's resignation be accepted with regret, , and paid a high tribute to the services rendered by Miss Heenan as secretary. These remarks were endorsed by other members present. Subsequently Miss M. Bruce was elected to the position of Secretary, whose appointment was received with general satisfaction. The members presented Miss Hccnan with a piece of silver plate in appreciation of her services. A few whitebait still continue to dribble in to the river and some of the catchers are still living in hopes, but most of them have given up, and have gone cls'awhcre to niakd a Cew pounds for Xmas. . It was noted that the Lodge had Enrolled 50 new members for the past year, which argurs well for the success of Lodge Westland. . Bro. C. Footo was the successful Brother to win Part D. P. Bro. Ashton's medal for recording most propositions during tho year. Nomination or Officers for the new year were taken. There were two nominations for Arch-Druid, and four for Vice-Arch, while all other chairs had five or six applications. Next fortnight will se the insfcaDa--1 tion of officers, and the Lodge 5s preparing for a huge order. Visitors will be there from all t>arts of the 1 Coast. "Furlong" gives me the following Hokitika. Dale has a chestnut gelding by Nautiform — Jenny Colleen, and although five years old, \v%\\ turn out good, if he can keep him right. , This young trainer also has a smart pacer, by Jcdran, out of Rita H.,f and is doing -well with Mm, also one other straight-out trotter.
