PUKEKAWA MURDER,

AUCKLAND, November 8,

The Chief Justice, in his charge to the Grand Jury at the opening of the Supreme Court to-day said that the evid^txec would show that Eyre, the victim, did not commit suicide, but was shot by a left handed man. The accused man, Thome, it appeared, had been carrying on with Mrs Eyre. He had not denied her statement to that effect. According to the evidence, Lo evidently had an attachment for Mrs Eyre.

His Honor read the evidence of alleged statements by Thome, which, ho said, upheld that Thome knew who committed the murder, yet ho did not choose to give an explanation "why ho made those utterances. Re might' do, so when he came before the Jury.
