VALEDICTORY
MR T. ANDERSON PAREWELLED BY KOHINOOR CLUB. A most enjoyable evening was spent at the residence of Miss M. Anderson, Pukctahi Street?, last evening, when the members and supporters of the Kohinoor Football Club assembled to bid au revoir to Mr E. Anderson, a junior member of the Club. Mr C. Nissen was in the chair and in wishing Mr Anderson good luck, congratulated him on the step he had talien in going abroad to further educate himself. He trusted that at some future time Mr Anderson" would once more he back in the ranks of the Kohinoor Club. Mr J. D. Wingham (President of the West Coast Rugby_League), also spoke of Mr Anderson Vqualities as a player. Though not knowing him personally, he had seen his play on the field, and was quite satisfied he would get on in civil life. In wishing Mr Anderson good luck, he trusted that while going away to a foreign land, where lie would meet new friends, he would not forget to write to his old friends. Messrs J. Brown, J. Thomas and C. Giffney also spdKe~Tn eulogistic terms of their guest, hoping that ,they would 'see him back in the ranks of the Kohinoor Club next year. "(Applause). Mr E. Anderson in "rising, to respond was gretted'with '-rounds of applause. He stated that he~was not entitled to all the good things said about.him that evening; but he had always endeavoured to do his best for the Kohinoor Club ana that when he came back they would find him in the Club doing his best for it. During the 'evernng the following toasts were honoured:— "The Kohinoor Football Club," proposed by Mr Wingham, coupleS "with names of J. Brown, C. Giffney, JTTTiomas; "the Hostess," proposed by Mr Thomas, coupled with the names of Misses M. Anderson and A. Clancy; "West Coast League. Centre, ' ' prop"osecl by Mr J. Ryan, and responded to by Mr J. Wingham. Songs and recitations were contributed by the following: Mr J. Ryan, "When you Wore a Tulip," encore, «' Mother Machree;" Mr C. Anderson, "You are Going to Leave the Old Home;" Mr E. Anderson, "She's the Lass for Me;" recitation, Mr J. Anderson/ "Devil May Care;" Mr C. Fraser, "The Minstrel Boy;" Mr J. Thomas, "Till We Meet Again;" Recitation, Mr C. Giffney, "The Yukon Trail;" Swedish Song, by Mr Albert Anderson. ~" r " v The proceedings were brought to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne," and tfiree" cheers for the departing guest. Messrs F. and E. Anderson leave by Thursday morning's" express for Auckland en route to America by the R.M.S. Niagara on June 29th. At a the 'Grand Ball to be held in the Town Hafl. to-night a novel feature as far as the West Coast functions are concerned, will be the taking of a flashlight photograph of the whole gathering.
