SPORTING NOTES.

The Reefton Jockey Club will hold their Summer Meeting on the 14th and 15th January.

The programme will be revised

Nominations for the Grey Jockey Club's New Year Meeting close with the Secretary (M. J. Fogarty) on the 14th inst., next Saturday at 9 p.m.

In consequence of the Reefton Jockey Club 's meeting having been postponed till January 14th and 15th, the Greymouth Jockey Club's handicaps will be declared on December 18, the acceptances closing on the usual date.

There is every likelihood that racing will be allowed to resume or on before December 18th. The Health Minister is now waiting for a report from the Health officers on the subject.

The Railway Department have decided to run trains to and from Omoto racecourse this New Year. There will be three trains up and two back. This evidently points to ?* resumption of the old system of special trains.

While exercising Lady Linwood on the Greymouth Trotting Track, Mr McGrath, owner and trainer, met with a severe accident. The mare had a burst of speed on, when .somehow she tripped over, throwing Mr McGraht and the sulky a considerable distance. It was a nasty fall, and McGrath was picked up unconscious. He was attended to by Dr McKay and sent to his home, South Beach.
