He denounced the arrest of the Soviet Committee,* "and declared that the Government are not re-spon-sible. Therefore the committee must be released immediately. . Subsequently, owing to the demonstrators not dispersing, soldiers turned on a machine-gun. General firing ensued and sixteen were killed and fifteen wounded^
