The ep.demic is still abating fast all over Southland. The position* 'in the country districts has been improving greatly during the past few days. The Vigilance Committee has completed its work, and has disbanded. The Hospital and Charitable Aid Board are now quite able io do all that is necessary.

The tramway and public services report a much better position, although the former is not yet normal.

One outbreak of spinal meningitis is reported, and another is ' suspected amongst children isolated in an auxiliary hospital.

The notified deaths to date in the Southland health area total 231.
