OBITUARY.

MRS JEFFRIES, AETAT 67 Last evening Mr. W. J. Jeffries principal of the firm .of Messrs Sprbt Jeffries and Co., received the sad news of his mother's, death, which occurred suddenly at: her private residence, Majoribanks Street, Wellington, Wednes day afternoQn. ; ' The late Mrs. Jeffries 's death caused the family a p'ainfui shock as her end came, so unexpectedly. : The good lady was in her. usual health until yesterday, when she was overtaken by la paralytic stroke, shortly;* after midday. Some hours later a second seizure occurred;- and the deceased passed away about four oclock. „ . The*late Mrs. Jeffries visted her son, Mr. W. J. .. Jeffries, a inoniths ago and though well up in years, was- in comparatively good health. The news of her-de-mise, will be regretted by hosts of friends in the district. Her generous 4 disposition, combined .with .other sterling qualities earn ed for her the esteem and {regard of her friends. : i The deceased arrived in Hokitifca from Victoria in the 60^s and until abouV eight years ago she resided on' the West Coast and in Nelson., Besides her husband, Mr. Jeffries^ of Wellington, a largefamily are : left to mourn their loss. Most" of them are well known in this 1 district. There are two daughters, Mrs. Torbitt (of Gneymouth), and Miss Jeffries (Wellington) V Of the sons, Mr. William Jeffries, of Hokitika, and Mr. Ken. "Jeffries of Greymouth, are better knowni to ;West Coasters. One' son son active service in Egypt, whilst two sons are in the North Island. . The late Mrs. Jeffries also leaves two brothers/ and a lister who all reside in Victorav Widespread>sympathy will be extended to the sorrowing husband and family in the sad loss they have sustained.jjfp.
