Jeannot led at the start. but Glenongly went in ■ pursuit of the Charlemagne 11. gelding and Wason eveu terms Avith the favourite at the back of the course. At the bend both the boys on the leaders seemed to be "riding" their mounts but once ;the straight was reached it soon ber came evident that Unfavourite would win, and despite a strong challenge from Glenongly in the home run he won fairly easily by three lengths. The Inangahua Silver Band were in attendance, and added considerably tc the day's enjoyment by the sweet music dispersed throughout the afternoon.
