LONDON, October 21. Reuter's Rome correspondent states tbat tbe Pope in an autograph letter begged King Albert to initiate steps towards peace. The King answered in the negative, thanking Pope Benedict, for a promise to use all inuenco to obtain the evacuation of Helgium as a condition of peace. His Majesty concludes by emphatically, declaring that he will never lay down the sword while his country is in slavery. Tlie Pope is greatly disappointed at lhe result.
