BREAD TO BE WEIGHED
(Per United Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, October 21. lion G. W. Russell, Minister of Internal Affairs, states he has given instructions that when inspectors are weighing bread at any bakery on behalf of the Department they are to take the number of loaves, say ten, and weigh them together, aud if the gross weight is right, then the baker will not be penalised for any slight variation in spare loaves. If the ten loaves do not make the full weight, the baker will be prosecuted in respect of the loaves Avhich are found to be short-weight, the same principle being applied in connection with butter. The inspectors are weighing sales of butter and weighing packages as occasion arises, in order to make sure that consumers arc not being defrauded..
