TROTTING NOTES

(By Dick Dead Eye.) This iast week has been very bad for training. Horses cannot do fast work as the track has been very wet and heavy. The acceptances for next Monday have ben very good, and Mr Brinkman has to be congratulated on his handicaps. TJie following horses Lave beeu working: — Westland Lasg is doing some good work) and should make a name for her self among the trotters very soon. Little Rose has been doing some very, good sprints, and if she can .stay a mile the judge should see her before the meeting is finished. Soprano, who has been going very well this last week, should be very hard to beat in the Petrie Memorial.. • Cobra, who has done very little work but is going very nicely, should make a name for herself this, meeting. Telltale, who is scratch in the Blaketown Handicap, will not be scratch at the finish of the two miles. Lucy Wallace, who has been doing some useful work, is looking a pic. ture, but. she is ,not too good a stayer. La Fontaine did some very useful work this last week, but has never been put to her best. Rosella, a new horse on the. : track, and a Bracelet candidate, is trotting very well. Whispering Boy, a very nice trotter, has improved a great deal since last meeting, and should be seen in the Bracelet. ' Woodland Dell, another beautiful trotter, is running some good halves, and in the Roa Handicap will be hard ; to beat. Rouble is also doing some good work, , and should be among the placed horses in the Telegraph Handicap. [ Ethel Ball, who has had a long spell, • is' doing some useful work. [ Stormlcss, who seems to be a bit ratty, is doing some solid work. Beach Boy has beeu slowed down to » jogging work this last week. Prudish has not been well this last few days, but is getting back to her old form again., ' Counsel, who Las been doing sonic I good work, seems to have got very i lazy, and requires a I°* °f riding. I Some of the Christ church horses ar- , rived last night, others arrive to-day, , but the biggest part of them arrive . on Saturday night, i ' Altogether there arc about 24 horses , from Christchurck to take part in this meeting.
