Th c evidence of colliery mechanics in the Wages Board case discloses that, the restriction placed on the export of NeAA'castle coal are severely affecting- the trade.
Some pits are closed and the rest are averaging- little more than half time.
Japan Las secured the United States Government contract for the Phillipine Islands, and the Java railway contract, both previously held by Newcastle. Avhile the Civilian railways arc now obtaining supplies from their own mines. Another cause of hie slackness is the shortage of explosives.
