The High Commissioner reports as follows: — LONDON, Dec. 26, 5.35 p.m. Paris reports that in Belgium the Allies are now actually at the bottom dunes whefe the enemy established a line of resistance south of Ypres. The Germans took part of the trenches between Hollebeck and Lens, near Carencif. The enemy ceded eight hundred metres of the first line of trenches. Slight progress has been made in other parts. PARIS, December 28. , A communique states : We continue to advance west of Lombaertzyde and have reached the dunes from where the t-nemy have established a line of resistance. We lost a section, of the trenches near Hdllebeke, but captured 80 metres of the first line trenches near Carency^n. the region of Lens. There is an in^rmittent cannonade in the Aisne Valley. It is particularly intense in the regions of Rheims and Perthes. We slightly progressed along j.he whole front of the Ueiguta^ — Me.use and repulsed a counter-attack north- ' east of Steinback.
