THE POSITION SATISFACTORY. ) 1 (Red. 11.5 p.m.) PARIS, Oct. 15. A communique states that the Germans have evacuated the left bank of the Lys and Lapasse Canal. The situation is stationary in the Lens region. We have made notable progress between Arars and Albert. We advanced towards Craonne and carried several trenches in the direction of Beine in the Rheims district. We repulsed night attacks between the Meuse and Moselle and progressed south of Verdun. On the Metz road the German offensive has been definitely stopped.
