Capt Cox,, Woolla'hra, was burglared of jewellery to .the value of £&o. Last night the two Misses Cox were alone in the house, their brother Roy aged "sixteen, having just previously left. r Owing to a knock the door was opened and a masked man" presented a revolver at Miss Cox and demanded a diamond ring she was wearing to the value of £iso. < She refused and struck the intruder who knocked 'her down. v. Her sister came to her assistance and a lengthly struggle ensued. The sisters received several wounds on theor heads and bodies but managed *to belabor the burglar. Eventually the intruder overcame the sisters who each handed over a ring ' to the man who decamped. Earlier in the night a man named Leggattwas driving on the Beknore Road when two masked men jumped out and one seized the bridle. \ The other, presenting a revolver, demanded money. Leggatt handed over ,£3O, and jumping out of the buggy started to run. -' One of the highwaymen fired, wounding 'him in the arm. Both decamped. There were . sensational developments to-day when men named Laurence and Roy Cox were arrested and remanded on" a charge of committing the robbery on April 24' th. The arrests were a result of a confession by Roy .that he arranged with Laurence to rob his sisters last night. He also confessed that he and Lautence stuck up Leggatt by whom young Cox was employed until a few days ago. Roy held the horse while Laurence ; robbed ,a.nd shot Leggatt, The police found the missing rings and a revolver \vTth one chamber discharged in Laurence's room. Leggatt states that £70 of his employer's money was in his possession when he wa stuck up and he leaped out of -rite buggy without surre.ndi.ng; any money. As he ran away three shots weire fired, but the wound in hs arm is not serious. This af'ernoon -Roy Cox and Laurence Cox were jointly charged with assaulting and robbing Misses Cox.
