POLLARD'S PICTURES
A magnificent .programme of the latest picture surprises was screened before a large and appreciative audience at the Opera House last night. Several of the pictures screened reached a high pinnacle. -in cinematographic art. "War' s Havoc an absorbing Kalem production is one of the best of the battle films we have yet seen. In "The Telephone Girt" . a new note is struck, as it shows, the marvellous nerve and pluck of a young operator who, thoug,h the house . is burning all round her still sticks to her post. "The Xesser Evil" is another drama showing the thrilling adventures of a fishermaiden. The comic element was splendidly sustained in such screamers as "The Tramp Cyclists Dream," "The Conductor" and others equally amusing. Topical pictures, scenic studies, and a' novelty film make up a great bill well "worth seeing. The same programme will ■be repeated to-night.
