Mr. McLean moved that the.reque.sb be granted. Mr. Kettle seconded. — Caa'ried. A copy of a telegram from Timaru was oread complaining- of the overtime •charges made by the Railway Department. The chairman said the matter, was «no for considevaitiion ! o'y the .Chamber. They all had complaints against the Railway Department Rife one time or another. The trouble was that the railway charged the overtime to tl'hc consigners. Mr. Kotfclc said the question .did not affect them very much, and they should leave the matter to Timaru. They should atrgo upon the District Traffic Manager to see that goods were more expeditiously handled. ' Mr. iHainblefon did not agree with Mr Kettle. The men ati the goods shed had handled an enormous amount of cargo and when the portwas blocked they couild not handle the cargo without a little delay. There was no sound cause for complaint against the staff of the goods shed. It was proposed that the train should leave Greymouth on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings ati 7 o'clock and arrive at Christchurch a 6.30 p. m., and the service from Chri'stchiurch would leave that- town on the same, days, so that the trains firqm Christchurch and Greymouth would (bring the passenger-si from both! ends.
