THE EVENT OF THE YEAR.

DRAPERS' AND BOOT 'EMPLOYEES' PICNIC.

The eventi of the year, as far .as ■the shop assistants of the drapery and boot -firms- liin town are concerned, will eventuate next Wednesday,, when thenannual picnic will be held at Lake Ma'hinapua. As an ideal site for this purpose, Mahinapua cannot be surpassed, and as the numerous attractions of the lake are well known lo our readers, it is needless to dwell on this '."opilc. The commitee hi charge of the picru'ic have made full and compete arang^em ents to have hoti water, tea, sugar and milk om hand, and •those who visit the lake on Wednesday next will find that everything w'll •be in readiness.

A capital programme of events for the children, -the ladies and the men, has ibeen arranged, so that prizes \vifl he .easy tp secure. An abundance of toys has 'been secured for the chil-' dren's 1 events, 'whilst splendid trophies will be donated Vo the successful ladies.
