THE DANCER OF MIST.
(By Teksrraph— Per Press Association) NAPIER, May 11, While steaming down the coast this morning (between Giisborne and Napier the steamer Monowai had a somewhat narrow escape from being 1 wreckod. The weather was thick and heavy, a mist hung- over the sea. Her position was regarded as perfectly secure' when suddenly the mist temporarily cleared and it was seen that the vessel was heading towards the shore, on which breakers were plainlyseen. The Monowai was then about a quarter of a mile from land, but the engines were reversed, and after proceeding- about a mile to sea she headed towards Napier and arrived withouil >any unusual delay.
