RAKANOA IN A GALE.
FROM WESTPORT TO AUCKLAND. During her passage from Westport to Auckland last week, after the Rakanoa rounded the North Cape the wind increased to hurricane force, and mountainous seas were running, which swept the vessel's decks fore and aft. The conditions became so bad that it was deemed' advisaible to heave the vessel to, which was done from- 6 o'clock on Tuesday evening till 1 p.m. on Wednesday. On Wednesday evening the gale died away and fine weather then prevaild to arrival at Auckland. '
