WEDDING BELLS.

ARCHER— PRENDERGAST

On Wednesday last a pretty wedding took place at the Roman Catholic Chapel, Ikamatuti, the contractinß parties being Mr .Charles Archer and Miss Bridget Prendergast, third daughter of Mr James Prendergast, one of our oldest and most respected residents. The ceremony took place in the presence of a number of personal friends of the bride and bridegroom. The Rev. Father Galerne (of Reefton) officiated- The chapel was tastefully decorated .and reflected gr^at credit on Mrs Arthur Mclnroe. The bride looked charming in a simple but very effective gown of blue relieved with white, beautiful white hat trimmed with tulle and lilhes of "the valley. She wore a handsome gold mounted greenstone heart and jiecklet the gift of the bridegroom, and j carried a white prayer 000k with longstreamers. The bride's present to the bridegroom consisted .of a, set ..or K old sleeve links. Miss Catherine Prendergast .(sister of the bride), actas bridesmaid, and looked exceedingly pretty in a gown of pate blue taltetta with hat en suite. She wore a gold mounted greenstone brooch, also trold mounted greenstone heart and chain, the gift of the bridegroom, and carried a white prayer booK witn white streamers. The bridegroom-was attended by Mr James Prendergast (brother of the',, bride) as- best man. After the ceremony the bridal party were driven to the residence of the bride's father, where a sumptuous \\<zddinK breakfast was- partaken of, <&M the usual toasts worn honored. In the evening a social was held in. 1 the schoolroom, at which there was a a large attendance and a very pleasant evening was spent. Mr J. Mathers danced- a hornpipe in splendid style, his performance evokinjr hearty rounds of applause. Mr McCabe •sartfr "Ever of Thee" very feelingly. Mr Arthur Mclnroe delighted the company with a comic song, which he rendered in his usual happy manner. Mr David Absolum sang "The Harvest Moon, ?> and "Queen of the Earth," his fine voice being heard to excellent advantage. As a singer Mr Absolum stands alone and unrivalled in this district: The bride '-was the recipient of a large number of useful "and costly presents, including several substantial cheques.- The hapny couple left by evening train for Hokitika, where the honeymoon will be spent.
