WOODVILLE, Dec. 9. Jine weather was experienced for the opening day of .the WoodviHe "Jockey Club's Summer meeting. The attendance was large. The sum of ,£7,820 was. passed through Che; tote compared with ,£10,297 for the corresponding day last year. Four bookmakers were licensed. Some interesting racing was seen and in a" couple of the events exciting- finishes were witnessed. C. O'Connor's starting left nothing to be desired. The results are: . ' : ;

' VVoodville Handicap: Moral 1, Woodhsy 2, Molocr 3. Also rian: TangianoanaV Nova. Loiret, Merrie Rose, Rangihaeta." Merrie Rose and Woodhey set a solid pace, the former dropping- mack at a mile. Wobdhey came into the straight with two ' lengths' lead. Half way down the straight Morai challenged and cutting down the leader won by a length arid a half.
