A POSSIBLE ENQUIRY.
(Reed. 27th, 6.58 p.m.) . fIVUBLiBiOURNE, Oct. 26. It is believed that the true story regarding the running in the Caulneld Cup is not yet disclosed.. It is stated that R. Cleland, the owner of Apologue, being upset at the result of the race, suggested to the V.A.T.C. Committee to hold an enquiry. The suggestion was not received favorably and J. Cleland then demanded an enquiry. The Committee after consideration, replied that they would hold an, enquiry if Cleland would pay all expenses of the same. Cleland is now cpasKtermjf.the Committee's proposal. ;In any case, Coffey. who rode Apologue in the Caulfield Cup, is not likely to ride the New Zealander in the Melbourne Cup. . May King was pulled up slightly lame after winning the Mooney Valley Cup.
