A WICKED. ACT.
I TIMARU, Oct 12. Two offences were committed on the railway near Timaru on Friday night. The first brajn north ran into a '548 rail across the track in a curve cutting, a. mite and * half out of town The emergency brake wa_ applied just too late to avoid hitting it. Half a mile further on, in another curved cutting, a boulder was found on the rail. The Washdyke station was broken into and the safe forced. £2 and the stationmaster's bicycle were stolen. The bicycle was recoveied, it being left by the thief at Caroline Bay, There is no clue.
