AN AUCKLAND VIEW.
AUCKLAND, July 26. The letting of the contract for the Arthur's Pass tunnel at £600,000 was strongly commented on at Che Chamber of Commerce meeting. The opinion was generally expressed that the money could be used in other ways to give better returns. A resolution was carried, urging the Auckland members to secure a fair allocation to Auckland province of moneys for railways and other public works ,and to vigorously protest against the expenditure on the Arthur's Pass tunnel.
