Mr Felix Campbell -who has been on a short visit to Wellington returned home by the Kotuku yesterday morning. Miss Campbell, Messrs Hunt and S. Young left for Crhistchurch by the Otira express yesterday .morning. Mr S. R. Harris, member of the Grey County Council was a visitor to tc(wn yesterday. An old West Coaster in the person I of Mr John O'Rourke passed away at yesterday after a long illness. I Mr and Mrs D. Stark, of Otira have I removed to town. Mr Stark has been promoted to a position in the local Railway Traffic Manager's office. Mr E. Ballantyne, Inspector of the T. and G. Mutual Life Insurance Co., is in town on his usual tour of inspection. He has appointed Mr J. Meade as travelling agent. Mr John Foster, President of the Denniston Miners' Union, has been appointed a member of the Westport Harbor Board in place of Mr McKenzre,' resigned. A' London cable message states that Mr Victor Booth, an Oamaru pianist, obtained the MacFarlane gold 'medal and the Westlake prize ""at the Royal Academy of Music. It is reported that Mr W. J. Dickie, of Lyndhurst has been asked to allow himself to be nominated as a candidate in the Government interest for the Selwyn- seat at the next general election. Mr Dickie is well known in Greymouth and "resided in Cobden for many years.
