The Arahura leaves Wellington today for Greymouth via usual ports and is due here on Monday morning. She will leave on her return the same evening at eleven o'clock. The Jane Douglas left for Oka:-ito last evening, and will bring back a 1 cargo of flax. ' The Kini with a full cargo of timber left for Wellington yesterday 'afternoon. The Petone is due to-morrow from Lyttelton; and leaves coal laden for the same port on Tuesday. The Pareora is due this morning I from Wellington, and leaves the same evening for the" same port, coal laden. The Kotuku leaves early 'this morning for Wellington with " a cargo of coal. The Government steamer Hinemoa arrived yesterday morning from the Bluff and southern lighthouses, and after taking 'in .a supply of bunker coal proceeded North. The Himkangi from Wanganui ar- | rived last evening. Tiße Ripple is expected early thi? morning ' from the Bluff. She loads coal for Lyttelton and then complees her charter with the Blackball 'Company. On discharging at Lyttelton she proceeds to the Chatham Islands. Mr W. Nich'olls, second officer of the Hawea, has resigned from the Union Company's service and is proceeding to England by the Rippingham Grange as fourth officer. Mr Barren chief officer, of the Hawea has been transferred to the Rotoiti, and Mr Morley, chief officer of the Rotoiti, goes to Dunedin for orders. Mr Leonard, late of the Kini joins the Haiwea. The ship Melville Island, which arrived at Wellington on Tuesday, last, brought a cargo of 3150 casks of creosote for the New Zealand Government, this commodity having come greatly into favor of late for increasing the weather-Tesisiting properties of native timbers used for railway sleepers and other purposes.
