TRAGEDY AT WELLINGTON

ATTEMPTED WIFE MURDER.

WELLINGTON, June 25 Maria Rosina Eleanor Mielsch was admitted to the Hospital on Saturday evening suffering frorh a dangerous wound on the head. It appears she 1 had recently prosecuted her husband, Hans Max Mielsch, for assault and obtained a separation order. They met, however, on Saturday night, and appeared to be oh friendly terms. They left Mielsch's lodgings together and a few minutes later the woman's screams were heard and she was found lying insensible, with her head-, split open, and a blood stained axe near by. Mielsch has disappeared. The woman's condition is critical. Mrs Mielsch is about 50 years of age She was previously a Mrs Cullen, and has a grown-up family. Mielsch is only 32 years of age, and is a wharf laborer. He was only married four months ago. , A man answering the description of I Mielsch was arrested at the Upper tfiitt this evening. Whilst in the lock up there he cut his throat and lost a jot of blood. He was removed to the "Wellington Hospital. He is the man wanted.
