RAILWAY REGULATION.
HAMILTON, June- 22. A matter of very great importance to the District High Schools wasbrou ght up by the headmaster of the Hamilton West High Schol. He stated that ihe Railway Department are now refus ing to grant -free railway tickets to Diserict High School pupils unless they have obtained a schodarship. The fact was that those- who had gained a scholarship did. not attend school. Half the High School pupils came by rail, and the new regulations if continued, would mean^the ruin of the school. It was explained that the Railway Department did not carry the pupils free, but debited the Education Department with the cost, and it was presumed that the latter departmenut was responsible for the change. Regulations were only issued last Tuesday by Order-in-CounciL It was resolved to protest strongly to the I authorities.
