(PBB PRESS ASBOCIATIOftJ DUNEDIN, May 29. The Premier addressed a meeting al Alexandra at noon to-day, and 1 was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence in the Government. Replying to !,• Massey's speech in the same place the Premier declared the statement that a leseee had been informed that his lease would bo forfeited because he owed one shilling of rent was an entire fabrication. He had made an enquiry and could find no trace of anything of the kind. This was a matter he would give Mr Massey an opportunity of setting himself right. He had said if the Irish landlord, 25 years ago, had threatened to evict a tenant for being one shilling in arrears what would ihave happened. Some one sand "shoot him," and Mr Massey, the coming Premier Had said "quite right.' If it went out that the coming Premier had said in a dispute between landlord and tenant, tlie landlord ought to be shot, what would the people think of the colony.
