The Panther was within five hundred yards firing a shot per minute. The fort replied rapidly and effectively. The village of San Carlos is ablaze. An explosion occurred within the fort. The Venezuelan rebels, under General Riewa, attacked the town of Coro and ten hours of street fighting followed. Ten of Castro's troops and thirty rebels were killed, including General Navas. One hundred and fifteen were wouuded, including Riewa. The rebels eventually retreated.London, Jan 22. The Times commenting on Counc Von Bulow's speech in the Reichstag says that Bdtain's .dislike to cooperating with Germany is very strong, and there will be general relief when the Venezuelan trouble is ended.
