Overhauling the Bond. Leave them their Language The Bond Defeated (per press association.) (BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH — COPYRIGHT.) (Received at 0 45 a m.) Capetown, Oct 3. The Assembly debated the conduct of members of the Afrikander Bond daring the war. Thereon the President of the Bond eulogised Tiscount Kitchener's fairness and declared that the Bond was determined to defend the flag, r but claimed the use of the Dutch language on an equality with the French in Cauada. Mr Lang moved an amendment for extending the scope of th« proposed inquiry to all Bondsmen and summoning ih6 Bend to express regret at the rebellion. In the course of the speech he contrasted the admirable conduct of the Boer Generals before reaching Capetown with their attitude after contact with politicians. Then he added that nobody was on the Bond side excepting Theron. De Waal admitted that the rebellion was wrong. The amendment was negatived by 35 to 24. The Ministry voted against the B>nd ann Db VSTaal. ■ / The motion for a select committee of inquiry was then carried without a division.
