Lyttelton, December 14. On the barque Lake Erie last night a seaman named William Lawry, with a razor seriously wojinded James Murphy, another seaman. He was unable to appear, ahd .accused was remanded for a week. '^- Wellington, December 16. As a result of the visit of the New Zealand Trade Commissioner to South Af t ica, several orders for butter, cheese, and eggs have been sent to this colony from the Cape. The South African Fisheries and Cold Storage Co at Capetown, is now asking for quotations focJarge quantities of dried fat of barracouta. School Inspecter Le°, who is retiring j from the service, was presented with a solid silver tea and cr.ffee service by the teachers of the Wellington district. The Mokoia which sailed for Sydney on Saturday took only 73 tons of New Zealand cargo.
