[P»R PRESS ASSOOIATON.] ChrisT"church, January 2. The Lyttelton regatta was a great success. The first day th© water was too rough for the outrigger erents, but there was a grand sailing breeze. The stump outrigged races were rowed inside the moles. Rainbow, an Auckland yacht, won the championship easily, beating Waitangi (Wellington) and Yvonne, and Kiaora, Lyttelton. Popular sports were held in London streets, and were well attended. In the swimming sports M E Champion, of Wellington, won the half-mile New Zealand amateur championship in 14 minutes 17 seconds, beating standard by one minute thirteen seconds. Besults : — ■ ' First-class Yachts— Rainbow (Auckland) 1, Waitangi (Wellington) 2, Yvonne (Lyttelton) 3. Rainbow led throughout, winning easily. Handicap Yacht Rac«— Fleetwing 1, Kawhai 2, Beltina 3. A large field. Maiden Double Sculls — Cure (Kaiapoi) 1, Akaroa 2, Wellington 3. Senior Double Sculls Stumps— Christchurch Amateur 1, Canterbury 2, Lyttelton 3. Youths' Double Sculls Stumps — Christchurch Amateur 1, Union 2, Canterbury 3. Ships' Boat (rowing)— Te Anau 1, Tekoa 2. Junior Double Sculls — Avon 1, Cure 2. The present returns show that the trains took 20,000 people.
