The Wine Duties
[per press association.] (by etectric telegraph — copyright.) (Received April 29, at 12 50 a m ) London, April 29. Sir M Hicks-Beach in replying to Mr Hotvard Vincent said that he was still considering the Agents-Generals' rejwesentations against the wine duties, adding that the Australian wine trade had grovrn under the equality of duties. The projected duties were small compared with the duties of Victoria and South Australia. He could- not see why if the differential principle was accepted, it should be extended to the colonies levying a highly protective tariff on British manufacturers.
