BLACKBALL NOTES.
(Our Correspondent). A most successful concert "was held in Nielson/s Hall on Friday night in aid of the library, Dr Howard being iv the chair. The proceedings were opened by a pianoforte solo by Mr H Forsyth, after which songs were given by Misses Robinson, Algie, Betesford, Boyle, Mrs Thomas, Messrs Dun bar, Wilson, Thompson, Thomas, Dornan, Rhodes, Forsyth, and Sweetman in an appreciative manner, also a step dance by Mr S Green. After the concert a dance was held which was kept up with entlm i.i>m until the small hours of the m'HMing. It is expected there will be about LlO over expenses which .together with L2O in hand will be of great assistance in providing more books or improving the building as the committee decide. The Blackball footballers played a match with the Brunner team on Saturday tit the latter place, and were defeated by six points to nil, and I am very much afraid if they do not go in for more practice they will not do much better during the season.
