For five consecutive days tha thermometer has b;en over 100. A number of children, Infants and old people have succumbed to its effects. Animals are suffering severely aod ponlby are dying on all hands. The director of the Z>o states that be nuver Baw animals so affected. Several valuable exhibits die! to-day. The majority were only kept alive by hosing them with cold water.
