MAORI CREEK CONCERT.
(our correspondent.) A conceit was given on Friday, the 15 rriSfT by" ~ the school children of DuttgAhville, to rase funds for their annual picnic, the committee thinking it a better way than by subscription* Miaa Kemple jindertook the teaching of the children, ! .aqd ; although it waß just; at examination time, it was a complete suocesß in every way. Nearly eight pounds were taken. Mts3 Kemple cannot be praiaed too much for the tronble she ihas taken, and , it also speaks well for the obedience and intelligence of her pupils, when they could arrive at such perfection at so short a notice. The action songß were quite new, and the precision and time kept was something wonderful. The Sunshine song was especially good and had to b 9 repeated. So also was C M'Kenzie's Bong " Polling Hard against the Stream." "The B'aek Thorn," sung by Messrs Hugh, Trindale, Mason, Reid, Aury and Barnhill. "The Railway Porter," by Frank Hugh was encored. "Grace Darling" was beautifully sung by Miaa K M'Phle, as also "Gipsy Jane." Mies Fanny Reid's sonp, "Hard Times, ' vnry sweety. Duet, "Pretty Polly Hopkins" by Frank and Lilly Hngh, was simply perfect and brought down the house. The recitations were equally good, "Careless Matilda," was given by Misses Flaherty, Trindale, North, Knox, Barnhill, and BlanchQeld. The speaking of theee young girls was very good, and the acdon moat gtaceful, so alBO r was Mr Barnhlll's recitation. "Pride Of Balterby B, boys a play and girls," by four little ones, was very good, also "Folly and Growler," by K Garland and M Barnhill. The programme was long, twenty .-.five peicea. After a vote of thanks to Mies Kemnle the entertainment closed with a marching Boh?, It was the very best concert ever held in Danganville,. but. l would. suggest at any other to have an iDtßrva^ .and give th© eM)<3r©n some light refreshments. — To- go through such a long performance without a rest mmt be rather tiring for such young children.
