The medical officer's report for the month waß read arid received; and the 'list, 'of patients non-ticket; holders admitted durlug the j month was read, considered, and dealt with. Messrs Lahman and, Matheuon were appointed visiting comm'ttee for the month. . Leave of absence was granted to Mr W. Ri Kettle for one month. Mr Sham, of the Works Department, on arrival at Wellington, on his way, ai he thought, to Marlborough, wai ordered to accompany the Hon Me

Seddon to Milford Sound, for what reaßon, : haß jnotf transpired. Mr Sham ia expeoted-to return early next week. Considering; the large amount of work on hand, it is a> little strange that the Minister should send so far afield for an officer to accompany him, and deprive the district engineer of his assistant when he could not be well spared. The members of the present^Miafstry tnke thep«lm for gallivanting about] the country with their retainers of officials. They have indulged themselves to the" full in a series efexcursions since they came into power — at the expense of the overburdened ; taxpayer ! The Reefton Antimony Company have sent 100 bag 3of antimony by^the; Janet Nicoll whiott sails for Auckland ihis morning, to be transhipped- lntb;.c-|tW Rlmutaka for London. tt l is-to be hoped the Company have got hold of a good thiDg, aud that this valuable mineral iitb be procured in payable quantities and thereby afford another profitable' article of expert. A raeetirjg oi the Greymouth Medical I Association will be held in the Herbert street ball this evening. .The Garrlck Dramatic and Comedy Company will perform in the Public Hall :on the 17 th and 18th inst. ; Nancarrow and Co will Bell by auction to-ruorrow a five-roomed cottage in Albert ' street ; and on Wednesday next freehold property in Arney street and leasehold prope 1 ty in Albert street. Miners and others are not fiad elsewhere regarding entering the Westport Coal Company's service. The traffic on the main Grey Valley road has increased in a surprising manner since the new railway time table canoe into force, and unlesß the Midland Railway Company endeavor to study the convenience of the public a little more than . they appaar inclined to do at present, the competition by road is likely to seriously affect their returns. The waggons, and goods coaches, which disappeared with the construction of the line, are making their appearance sgain in town two or three times a week. Two waggons were loaded up at the old Btand in Boundary Btreet a day or two ago, and as they appeared to have as much as thny could cairy, it would seem that, the waggoners are going to make a success of tha- venture. Tiie dissatisfaction with the new arrangement is becoming more pronounced every day, many of thoae who have hitherto been avowed supporters of the Company have been heard to express themselves very Btrongly against the action of the Company in ignoring the wants of the public. It will be seen by an advertisement elsewhere s . that the old and well established firm of Algie and Prießt have dissolved partnership and advertise their ■ mill for. sale. As the dairy company recently started by the Grey Velley settlera will commence operations shortly, it has been suggested that the property of Algie and Priest would suit admirably for an undertaking of the kind. Mr Colvin's racing mare Sweetie, it is eald, has proved that she will not stand training, and has been relegated to the paddock for the rest of her days. Mr Webley, Pianoforte and Organ Tuner, will return to Oreymouth at the end of March. Orders may be left at Mr W. H. Perkins 1 , Messrs North and Wylde's, or at Gilmer's Hotel, and will be then attended to. — Advt. We wish to remind our readers that Christopher Smith, the cash draper and clothier, is one of the largest importers of drapery and clothing in New' Zealand, and is therefore able to : Bell a slagle article at the wholesale price, and our country friends will do well to pay him a visit when in town. — Advt. Mr Greenwood, 1 'Dentist, has arrived on a short professional visit, and may be consulted, at . his rooms, .opposite the Midland'' Railway Chambers. Those requ'ring his services are requested to call early.— Advt. Sporting guns an ammunition, all sportnen's requisites — largest- assortment at lowest prioes, Forsyth and Masters. — Advt'
