A KAKANUI RELIEF FUND.

At a largely attended meeting of citizens to-night, the Mayor presiding, it was resolved on the motion of the Rev Dr Stuart, to establish a fund for relief of the sufferers by the Kakanul disaster, and a committee was appointed to administer the fund. A suggestion by Mr Fish, MHR, that the Kaitangata and Clutha relief funds should be applied to meet the case provoked a warm discußßion, in which Fi»h was severely taken to task for attempting to dry up the spring of charity in the community.
