HANLAN MEANS IT.

(united press association.)

Auckland, October 10.

In a private letter received in Auckland Hanlan declares that he will try all he knows to win the ensuing match with Beach, to be rowed on November 6th on the Nepean river ; and as he has everything to win and nothing to lose it will not be his fault if he does not regain the championship. If he wins the race HanJan will remain in Sydney for some time ; but in the event of losing he will come on to Auckland, where he -will stay for some time, and will perhaps permanently settle here. A match is being arranged between Hanlan and Gifford of Sydney for £500.
