RACING CLUBS' CONFERENCE
The conference of de T egates from the West Coast Clubs called to meet at the Albion Hotel did so on Friday night, when the Kumara Jockey Club was represented by Mr Burger, Ahaura Jockey Club by Mr John Kennedy, and Greymouth Jockey Club by Messrs Arnott, Lahman, and Walton. Letters were received from the Reefton and Hokitika Clubs, the former stating that as the Nelson Club was considered by them aa their Metropolitan at present they could not in their opinion legally be represented. The Chairman of the W«atland Club Committee wrote stating that they claimed to be Metropolitan, and asked that Greymouth should officially recognise them as such, and that they would not attend, as tho matter had been already decided. A leng'hened discussion as to the present state of matters having taken place, it was finally moved, seconded, and carried — "That the three Clubs represented , here to-night, namely, Ahaura, Kumara, and Greymouth, form themselves into an Association, to be called the West Coast Racing Association, and that the Greymoath Club bo appointed the Metropolitan Club of the Association." Moved, seconded, and carried — " That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to all the other cubs on the West Coast, iaviticg them to join the Association " Moved, seconded, and carried — " That the racing rules of 1886 be adopted by the Association." Moved, seconded, and carried — "That the boundaries for all district races be the four counties of Buller, Inangahua, Grey, and Westland." Moved, seconded, and carried — "That the qualification for district races be as follows : That all horses entered for the district race or races shall be the hona fide property of a resident in one of the said counties for three months, and that each horse itself shall have been in one of the said counties at least three months immediately prior to the race or races for which it is entered." Moved, seconded, and carried— "That the Produce Stakes shall be for all horaes flooded within the said four counties." Moved, seconded, and carried — "That a copy of these proceedings be forwarded to the Canterbury Racing Club, and that they be asked to confirm the resolutions passed." (Signed) H.
