A HAWAIIAN TREATY.
Washington, January 22. The proposed treaty between the j United States and the Hawaiian Islands was under the consideration of the Senate to-day. A clause was added "ranting to the LJnited States the Pearl River and the Island of Ohau as a naval coaling station. The consent of the Hawaiian Government to the proposal is considered doubtful. (Received January 26, at.1.15 a m.) AMERICAN BLOOD IS UP. January 24. In the Senate today a bill was passed empowering the President to take measures for the protection of American fishermen. In the debate on the question several sDeakers made violent attacks on the British Government, threat ming war with England if the seizure of American fishing vesse's by the Cmadian Government were continued. (Received January 25, at 2 a m.) GENERAL BOUL4NGER'S POPULARITY. Paris, January 23. The popularity of General Boulanger, the Minister for War, is exciting the jealousy and fears of the moderate party in i .the Cabinet as well as in the Press. The extremists eulogise effusively the patriotism and vigor which he has displayed.
