Hokitika, January 18. Mr M'Lymont, goldfields lecturer, has assayed some quartz found south of Ross, and reports no trace of gold or silver. The private assays were incorrect owing to .impurity in the materials used. The reef is 22 feet thick, and prospecting is being carried on the vicinity
