METHODIST CONFERENCE.

The thirteenth annual meeting of the United Methodist Free Church was opened to-day. The Rev. J. Parker, of Christchurch, was elected chairman, and Mr Wm. Fisher, of Christchurch, secretary. J. Saunder3, of Nnpier, and Mr Chamberlain, of Auckland, were appointed subsecretariss* and the Rev. J. Wrigley and Mr' R. Rush press reporters. The following representatives were in attendance :— Auckland : L V. S. M'Farlane, Messrs Chamberlain and J. Saunders; Christchurch : Rev. H. B. Reedstone, Messrs Leadley and Noble ; Wellington : Messrs J. Trevar, W. E. Reedstone, J. Kershaw ; Napier : Rev. J. Edwards, Mr R. A. Bush ; Addington : Rev. J. Parker ; Mr P. Culler ; Richmond : Rev. T. Dutton, Messr3 W. Flesher and Walker; Rangiora: Rsv. C. Peio:3, Mr Ford; Westport : Rev. E. O. Perry, Mr Parker; Oxford: Rev. J. W. Worboy, Mr R. "Bryant ; Woodville : Rev. J. Wrigley, Messrs J. Lowry, and Rev. Bowron. The business this morning wrs only formal. After lunch the stationary and finance committee was elected as follows : — Revs. Perry, Penny, Worboys, and Messrs Bryant, Rush," Saunders, and Chamberlain. An invitation to hold the next meeting at St. Aaaph street, Christchurch, was accepted. The question of a closed union with the Australian district wes discuss? 'l, and referred to a commitfe o? the Roys. M'Farlane, Duf^on, Wrigley, and Messrs Chamberlain and Bowern. January 18. The whole of this morning's session of the United Methodist Free Church wa3 held with closed doora.
