Public Notices. r\ REV COUNTY COUNCIL. WIDTH OF TIRES BYE-LAWS. In pursuance of the powers vested in County Councils by "The Counties Act, 1876," aud the Amendments thereof, the Grey County Council ordain as follows : No. 4 made by the Grey Count r Council, regulating the WIDTH OP TIRES OP WHEELS WHICH SHALL BE USED BY ALL VEHICLES, "whether plying por hire or not, "within the Grey County. 1. On and after the Ist day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eightyseven, the width of the tires of all the wheels of every jinker drawn or used on any road in the Grey County shall be not less than six inches, and the owner, or driver of any jinker, being drawn or used on any road in the Grey County, having the tires of any of the wheels of such jinker less than six inches in width shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding Five Pounds. 2. On and after the Ist day of March? one thousand eight hundred and eighty seven, the width of the tires of all wheels of every waggon, dray, timber waggon, or other vehicle, drawn by four or five horses, or other animals, and used or drawb on any road in the Grey County shall be not less than three and onehalf inches, and the owner, or driver of any waggon, dray, timber waggon, or other vehicle which has the tires of any of the wheels thereof less than three and onehalf Inches in width, and is drawn by four or five horses, or other animals, and used, or drawn, on any road in the Grey County shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding Five Pounds. 3. On and after the Ist day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eightyseven, the width of the tires of all wheels of every waggon, dray, timber waggon, or other vehicle drawn by six or more horses, ther animals, and used, or drawn on nyroad in the Grey County, shall be not c than four and one-half inches, and the owner, or driver, of any waggon, dray, timber waggon, or other vehicle which has the tires of any of the wheels thereof less than four and one half inches in width, and is drawn by six or more horses or other animals, and used or drawn on any road in the Grey County, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding Five Pounds. 4. Nothing contained in section number two shall apply to any vehicle upon springs used exclusively for carrying passengers or for carrying Her Majesty's mails. 5. On and after the Ist day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eightyseven, the width of the tires of all the wheels of every dray, spring cart, or other vehicle not solely used for carrying passengers, and drawn by two or three horses, or other animals, on any road in the Grey County Bhall be not less than two inches, and the owner or driver of any dray, spring cart, or other vehicle, not solely used for the conveyance of passengers drawn by two or three horses, or other animals, on any road in the Grey County which has the tires of any of the wheels thereof less than two inches in width Bhall be liable to a penalty not exceeding Five Pounds. 6. On and after the Ist day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eightyseven, the width of the tires of all other vehicles used or drawn on any road in the Grey County shall be not less than on« and one-half inches, and the owner of any vehicle drawn, or used, on any road in the Grey County, which has the tires of any of the wheels thereof less than one and one-half inches ia width, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding Five Pounds. 7. On and after the Ist day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eightyseven, it shall be lawful for any person acting under the authority of the Grey County Council, or for any policeman or constable, to examine and measure the width of the tires of the wheels of any vehicle, jinker, waggon, timber waggon, dray, spring cart, or other carriage affected by the Bth bye-law, and every owner or driver of any such jloker, waggon, timber waggon, dray, spring cart, or other carriage, after such measurement and examination shall have been lawfully required, who refuses to permit such examination and measurement, or who shall turn or drive out of the road in order to hinder, evade, or avoid such examination and measurment. or shall in any way hinder or obstruct the same, shail for every offence be liable to a penalty not exceeding Five Pounds. 8. On and after the Ist day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eiehty seven, every vehiclecarrying, orconstructed to carry, goods or merchandise of any kind whatsoever, for hire, and every vehicle carrying passengers for hire in actual use on any road in the Grey County, shall have the Christian and surname and place of abode of the owner thereof painted on some conspicuous part of the offside thereof in white letters on a black ground, suoh letters being not less than one inch high and of a proportionate breadth, and the owner of any such vehicle who shall neglect to have such name and place of abode painted as aforesa'd, or who r<Ml have the same so painted incorrectly, shall forfeit and pay for every such offence asum not exceeding Five Pounds. Provided that for every day that any Ruch vehicle s^all continue to be used as afore-, said, and to have the name and place of abode not painted thereon, or painted contrary to the provisions of this bye law. the owner thereof shall be deemed to have committed a fresh offence. 9. Every penalty imposed by this \\yzlaw shall and may be recovered in a summary way.
