ROYAL EDWARD, SHIP.

The report and decision of the Marine Board of New South Wales, in the matter of the abandonment of the Royal Edward, given on 23rd ult , is as follows :— She left Sharpness on April 20 last, with a cargo of salt in bags bound for Melbourne, and when in lat. 40 S. and long. 27 W., she Rencountered a gale of hurricane force, and while running before it, shipped a heavy sea, which broke right over her, ■mashing in the poop, whereby a great quantity of water got below. The pumps were manned, and every effort made to clear the vessel, which was laboring and straining very heavily, and constantly shipping larse quantities of water, which dissolved some of the salt, causing her to ,'get by the head, and become unmanageable. After the third day the Norwegian barque Bellona hove in sight, and with great difficulty rescued vth« crew who were very exhausted with pumping, &c.,' the provisions* with the exception of some biscuit, having been destroyed by salt water, and safely landed them in Sydney. The Board reported that when the' Royal Edward left -Sharpness sfa%~waß staunch, strong, and seaworthy,-* and that the master, Robert S. M'Cleave, was quite justified in abandoning Tier. The Board wish to record their high appreciation of the conduct of Captain Jorgenson, the master of the Bellona, who at great risk rescued the crew and brought them to this port. The Government have been recommended to present him with some memento of his gallant conduct.
