THE ARATAPU ASHORE,

Gisborne, July 26,

The brigantine Aratapu, Capt. Boyers, 120 tons, went ashore last night at six o'clock in a southerly gale. The crew walked ashore at low tide this morning. The vessel is on a sandy beach, and is likely to get off in a few days. She belongs to the Auckland Sash and Door Company, and is insured in the South British Insurance Company, but the amount is not known. She arrived last Tuesday with a cargo of coals from Newcastle, the consignees being Messrs Kennedy and Hans. The coal was nearly all taken out before she came ashore. One of the cables parted, and she drifted on the beach. No damage is done to her.
