VICTORIAN ELECTIONS.

Melbottrne, March 5.

To-day being the day fixed for the general elections has been proclaimed a public holiday throughout Victoria.

Tne complete returns of"28 electorates' ara to hand co far. 22 supporters of the Coalition Ministry have been returned including Mr Walker, Commissioner for Customs ; Mr Pearson, Minister for Education ; Mr Nimmo, Minister for Public Works ; and Mr Davis, who has a seat in the Ministry without a portfolio. The following are among the mor-3 prominent Ministerial supporters elected : — Messrs Lang r idge, Coppin, Zox, Tucker, and Bosisto. Thirseen Opposition members have been elected, including Messrs Bent, Goldsmith, Munro, M'Tntyre, A. T. Clark, and Colonel Smith. Eight members have been returned as Independents— Messrs James and Mirams were rejected by the Collingwood electorate, and Sir Charles M'Mahon retired.
